The editorial assessment includes a detailed written evaluation that discusses the writer's strengths, weaknesses, and highlights of a completed fiction or nonfiction title.
Proofreading is designed for authors who have already worked with an editor and who have successfully created a print or ebook version of their book. Prices are based on a per page rate (PDF page).
Pricing is $100 per 50 pages. Turnaround is two weeks per 300 pages.
Level I copyediting covers all the basics of editing, which are required to bring a manuscript up to a publishable standard. The editing will make changes to a manuscript where there are spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. Additionally, the editor may include notes, queries, and suggestions about the content, particularly in areas where there is a need for further development, further explanation, additions or omissions. The returned manuscript will include changes visible through Microsoft Word's Track Changes feature.
The price for editing is $140.00 for up to 10,000 words. For each additional 10,000 words, add one unit to the total. Approximate turnaround is two weeks for every 60,000 words.
Level II editing, often called developmental or substantive editing, is designed for authors who are seeking more than a basic copyedit of their manuscript. The editor spends a great deal of time looking at deeper issues, such as character development, storyline progression, and writing style. Level II editing oftentimes requires one-on-one dialogue with the author, and the editor may assign additional writing, research, and other work to bring the manuscript up to publishable standards.
Pricing is $280 per 10,000 words. Expect a turnaround of four weeks per 60,000 words.
